Arthurian Legends
-----------------------
http://www.uidaho.edu/student_orgs/arthurian_legend/ladies/gwen/gwen.htm
Author - Unknown
Summary - This site is a "hyper-text research paper" on the role of Guinevere in legends through the ages. The periods described in this website runs from Celtic legands to 20th century authors. The website discusses various legands and the changing role of Guinevere in these stories. This site is both informative and enlightening, the common reader will be suprised by the diverse range of tales told about King Arthur and his kingdom. The site does a wonderful job of introducing many of the older legands to new readers and I highly recommend it.
Quality of Graphics - ***** The graphics are diverse and cited, a rare thing for an internet site. The era of the picture corresponds with the time period discussed on the page. The site manages to be visually appealing without being overwhelming.
Navigability - ***** There is a simple overview on the index page with links to every topic discussed on the page. The simple navigation helps if one wishes to find specific information.
Objectivity - **** This site was very objective.
Reliablity - **** On one page it was described as a "hyper-text research paper" so it was not only objective but authoritative. I consider myself to be well schooled in various legends about Queen Guinevere, and I could find no mistakes on this website. I believe the information in this website to be truthful and useful.
Overall Score - *****
http://www.2020site.org/kingarthur/
Author - contact@2020site.org
Summary - This page is divided based on character, and has links to a story about the characters listed. I was not fond of this site at all. The page, although simple and pleasant to look at, seemed to be created from some cheap HTML generator, hence giving the impression that the webmaster is not to be taken as an authority on the material he presents. I do not recommend this page.
Quality of Graphics - **** The graphics are the same, typical, taken from an old book graphics, however unlike the other site, these graphics are not cited. The pictures are on logical places on the pages, following the stories and such.
Navigability - **** The links are easy to follow.
Objectivity - ** All of the information on this page is basically copied from an old book, however credit is not given to the author and the reader does not know if one is reading Morte D'Arthur or just some random student's babbling. Since no other information is given besides the obviously copied stories, this site is not objective.
Reliablity - ** No credit is given to the author of the stories. Although the site claims to have dilligently researched their legends, without telling the reader who wrote the legand they are portraying, the site cannot be described as reliable.
Overall Score - **
http://wwwpersonal.umich.edu/~merrie/Arthur/
Author: Merrie Haskell (merrie@umich.edu)
Summary: This site attempts to "ennumerate as many of the relevant details of the Arthurian legend as possible, and to offer a few theories that will broaden the general understanding of King Arthur and the Matter of Britian, and how what was once history became fairy tale." The author does a good job giving historical information to back up the main stream Arthurian legend she presents. The only thing she could impove upon is to state that the legend she presents is not the only Arthurian legend.
Quality of Graphics: **** I wish there was more graphics, but what she has is very nice, simple, and unabtrusive.
Navigability: ***** This page is very easy to casually surf through.
Reliability: **** She only presents one legend but she does so very well, I only wish she gave more disclaimers about mulitple legends. Another thing one might want to notice is the fact her email address ends in "edu" this suggests that if she is not herself a professor, then she is at least connect with an educational facility.
Overall Score: **** ½*
http://bcn.boulder.co.us/library/bpl/child/booklook/women.html#newman
Author: Allison Barrett
Summary: This is basically a fifteen year old's "analytical paper" about the role of women in Arthurian legend. It is a very casual paper, and obviously written by a high schooler.
Quality of Graphics: * There is one graphic, a pirated gif of a bookcover. Not very visually interesting at all.
Navigability: ** She has links... to the bottom of her page to her works cited, not terribly impressive...
Reliability: * It's written by a fifteen year old who described Quinevere as a "silly little girl." I wouldn't take too much stock in her reviews of the books she read. She also admits she's not a fan of the King Arthur legends, so probably doesn't have much historical or literary knowledge to back up her opinions.
Overall Score: *
http://www.lib.rochester.edu/camelot/cphome.stm
Author: University of Rochester (alupack@rcl.lib.rochester.edu)
Summary: This is a very comprehensive site full of links to Arthurian sources and relevent topics about King Arthur and his Kingdom.
Quality of Graphics: **** Once again, simple graphics, not many per page but the limited images makes the pages load quicker, which is probably the reason for so few images. There is also a separate page that provides the viewer with links to all the graphics they could ever want.
Navigability: ***** This site is very easy to navigate through.
Reliability: ***** Since this site is run by a university I am inclined to believe they have researched the information they put online.
Overall Score: *****

http://www.mmtcnet.com/bmiller/vietnam/vietnam.htm
Author: Brent
Summary - This site is an excellent site for information about Vietnam in general and mainly the legend of the Vietnam War. The website is very attractive and entertaining with music included. I give this website a rating of superiority for all the work that was needed to put it together. Every link works and to every link there is a different tune that relates to the topic of that specific link. There are many diverse links on this webpage that I could not leave out any one nor could I only choose one link.
Quality of Graphics - ***** The graphics are amazing and have many flashes. The site is visually apealing and includes many photos of Vietnam.
Navigability - *****The contents on this page was very easy to navigate through. Every link lead to another webpage filled with useful information about Vietnam.
Reliablity - ****This website was put together by an individual who weighs the importance of facts over observation. Brent included statistics and many other facts about Vietnam in his website. The only thing that would be bias in Brent's webpage is the link in memory of his father. This is a very touching website.
Overall Score - *****
http://www.viettouch.com/vietnam_heroes_heroines.html
Author: Chi D. Nguyen
Summary - This website includes very interesting true legends about Vietnamese heroes/heroines. It is also interesting in the aspect that it includes actual vietnamese punctuations. Along with the legendary tales, Chi D. Nguyen includes a lot of literature such as poetry in explaining these legendary heroes/heroines. There seems to be much more information than Nguyen could gather on his own, therefore I think he cshould have cited his work.
Quality of Graphics - ****The graphics were visually appealing and accurate on the legendary heroes and heroines of Vietnam. It was interesting how photos would pop up when your mouse lands on a specific word pertaining to that picture.
Navigability - *****The contents on this page was very easy to navigate through. Every link lead to another webpage filled with useful information about Vietnam heroes/heroines.
Reliablity - ****This website seems to have been put together by a wise and educated man who has an immense knowledge about Vietnam legends. The fact that his website is copyrighted leads me to trust the information on this site as accurate.
Overall Score - ****
http://coombs.anu.edu.au/WWWVLPages/VietPages/coatarms.html
Author: Thai Van Kiem
Summary - This website has many vietnamese legends, ranging from the dragon legend to the song of the pheonix. This site contains satisfactory information behind most of the traditional symbols of Vietnam. The land of Vietnam is called the land of the dragons. Emporors chose dragons as a symbol for power and nobility. The unicorn represented intelligence and goodness. The tortoise symbolized both Heaven and Earth. The pheonix was a symbol of virtue and grace. This website explains in more detail about the hidden meanings behind these symbols.
Quality of Graphics - **There is but only one picture on this webpage with a pink background. At first sight, the webpage is not at all appealing.
Navigability - *****The webpage in only one page that allows you to scroll down through the information on the page. There is one link that works back to the homepage where this link derived from.
Reliablity - ****This website seems to be reliable based on the fact that they cited their work.
Overall Score - ****
http://www.buffalostate.edu/~fishlm/folksongs/les02.htm
Author: Dr. Les Cleveland
Summary - This website lists the variety of songs sung during the Vietnam War as an occupational folklore tradition. There are many songs pertaining to the criticism of the war. In scandalous actuality some soldiers symbolized their individuality by giving peace signs and growing styles of moustache. There are songs that are sung about many of these scandalous acts that go against regulatory standards. In one song, there included the saying about "cheap charlie." This is an interesting site about the different songs and their meanings in the Vietnam War era.
Quality of Graphics - *There is absolutely no graphics on this page and no color. This website is abolutely not appealing visually.
Navigability - ***The webpage in only one page that allows you to scroll down through the information on the page. The webpage has many subtitles that should have been indexed or the webpage should have included a table of contents.
Reliablity - *****This website seems to be reliable based on the fact that the author hold a PhD and the material has been copyrighted.
Overall Score - ***

Quality of Graphics - *****There are many graphics on this page. This page seems like it took a lot of work and is very visually appealing.
Navigability - ***the webpage includes many links that is easy to navigate through. Every link works, but there may be a nagitive side of too many links, and too much information on one webpage.
Reliablity - ****This website seems very reliable according to its graphics, but the author has been helped to translate it into English. I believe that there can be many mistakes when tranferring information from one language to another. Based on the information I have read and on my background of being Vietnamese, I trust this webpage.

http://gohawaii.about.com/travel/gohawaii/library/nosearch/blmythologybooks.htm
Author: unknown
Summary: this site gives short summaries of books and their links to the Barnes & Noble book search. On the Barnes & Noble site publisher and customer reviews can be found as well as the option to buy the book. A picture of the book's front cover and related books are also listed.
Graphics: **There aren't many graphics. This site is bare minimum in that area.
Navigability: ***The initial site is very easy to navigate, but once you get onto the Barnes & Noble site it gets a little more complicated.
Objective: ****yes initially it is pretty objective. When you get to the Barnes & Noble site the reviews aren't objective.
Reliability: *****Considering the fact that the books are linked to various revies and the fact that this site is dedicated to Hawaii, I would say that it is pretty reliable.
Grade: ****1/2*
http://www.lightlink.com/xine/myth/mythic_bks.html
Author: unknown
Summary: If you scroll down the page to the heading "Some of my favorite books" you will reach this list. This particular list goes into the psychology of mythology. The information on this site is worth looking at. Each book has a link to it's reviews and purchasing on amazon.com.
Graphics: **Not much but they are appropriate
Navigability: Easy
Objectivity: ***Well, on this page the author mostly lists the links and the book's author. There are a couple of the site author's reviews. They seem to be somewhat objective.

Grade: ****
http://www.accessnewage.com/books/MythologyFolklore.cfm
Author: Access:NewAge Corp. (I assume)
Summary: A site listing about twenty-five New Age books ranging in topic from mythology of the Orient to understanding the Tarot. The summaries are quite short and there are only a couple of bookcovers shown. They do have one featured book whose link goes into a very long review.
Graphic: ***There aren't many graphics but what they do have is okay.
Navigability: ****Very simple, very easy. Almost all of the information is right there on the page.
Objective: ***The summaries of the books seem generally objective. They do sound like they could be taken right off of the back of the book, though.
Reliability: **Like I said, the summaries sound like they may be from the publisher.
Grade: ***
http://pagan-home.com/starting/myth.htm
Author: Dan and Marsha Graham, Sierra SilverOwl
Summary: This site gives basic summaries of under ten books. The books listed seem especially helpful for beginners of mythology studies. Book topics mainly include ethnic mythology from all over the world. The author of the site also notes the readability of each book.
Graphics: ***appropriate but minimal graphics
Navigability: ****there is only one page so it is a sinch to navigate
Objective: ****The author does add some of their own flavor and interpretation to the review of the book.
Reliability:*** I am not so sure. The site is all about this genre so I would think that they would be dedicated to the quality of their recommendations. Another point to note is that each review is followed by the name Sierr SilverOwl. It is never stated who he or she is!
Grade: ***1/2*
http://www.theforce.net/books/reviews/main_reviews.shtml
Author: various book reviewers
Summary: The site includes various book reviews related to and/or in the same genre as Star Wars. It's a fun site with a lot of information.
Graphics:***** there are lots of action pictures from Star Wars, which is very appropriate. The site is very enjoyable to look at and certainly gives the site a lot of drama.
Navigability: *****This site is well mapped and very easy to navigate.
Objectivity: ****no, this site doesn't appear to be very objective. It includes a lot of "reader-response" reviews, albeit, ones from people who seem to be totally absorbed in this genre.
Reliability:**** this site is solely about material from this genre (sci-fi, especially Star Wars). One would think that they know at least a good bit about what they are writing about.
Grade: *****
